Nagoya Castle (名古屋城)

I think Nagoya Castle is arguably the most important landmark in Nagoya, making it a can't-miss destination when visiting this city. It can easily be reached using the Nagoya city subway from Nagoya station with the 2 options below.

① Nagoya(名古屋) → Hisayaodori(久屋大通) [via Sakuradori Line(桜通線)] → Shiyakusho(市役所) [via Meijo Line(名城線)]

② Nagoya(名古屋) → Sakae(栄) [via Higashiyama Line(東山線)] → Shiyakusho(市役所) [via Meijo Line(名城線)]

Although the Meijo Line is just a loop, there are counter-clockwise trains that moves to the Meiko Line(名港線) and ends in Nagoya Port (名古屋港), so make sure that you take the clockwise train in the direction of Shiyakusho (right loop). Go out of the station via Exit 7 and walk westward to get to the main gate.

Admission fee is 500円, but there are other types of passes. You can check the official site of the Nagoya Castle from the link at the bottom of this post. The main castle is far from the gate, but there are other things to see before you reach the castle, like cultural shows in the field or old gates, turrets and statues.

Inside the castle are different exhibits, starting from the sub donjon (the smaller one) to the main donjon. At the top of the main donjon is the observation deck overlooking Nagoya city.

After the exhibits, you'll leave the castle from the other side. Walk around and you'll see another small building (I forgot the name) with doll exhibits. There are also lot of gardens around, giving different views of the castle.

As promised, here is the link to the official website: Nagoya Castle Official Website
