We arrived at Macau via CotaiJet ferry from Hong Kong. Upon arrival, we didn't know where to go first because we haven't reserved any hotel. Fortunately, there's a Filipina working for one of the tour agencies there who helped us (she even called the hotels to get the best deals). After some inquiries, she said the best one she could find is Hotel Sintra, so she told us to ride the free shuttle of Grand Lisboa, and from there, we could walk to Hotel Sintra which is just 1 block away.
After checking in at the hotel, we looked for a nearby restaurant to have lunch. We found a Singaporean restaurant at the "food court" section of The Macau Square, and guess what, the cashier was a Filipina. We took the opportunity to ask her for directions for the places that we wanted to see. Since moving around Macau is easy (via bus, a flat rate of 3.20 HKD or MOP), she just showed us how to use the map we got at the ferry terminal and how we can maximize our time in getting around Macau. The nearest tourist spot from that restaurant was Senado Square, and from there, we can walk to the Ruins of St. Paul - probably the most recognizable place in Macau.

We spent so much time taking pictures, shopping and eating around that area before we noticed that it was already late in the afternoon. We hopped on a bus going to Largo do Pagode da Barra. (Note: You won't get any change on the bus, so we made sure we have exactly MOP6.40 every time we need to get on a bus)
When we got to Largo do Pagode da Barra, guess what again, the guard was a Filipino. Unfortunately, the guy wasn't as friendly as the 2 Filipinas we previously met. The place was closing (there were about 10 minutes left before actual closing time), but he wouldn't let us in, so we just took pictures outside.
From Largo do Pagode da Barra, we rode the bus again going to Fisherman's Wharf. The rain started to pour along the way until we arrived at Fisherman's Wharf. Tough luck, we didn't know that we should go there during daytime and there's really nothing much to see at night.
After taking a short rest, we went back to our hotel. To cap of the night, we walked around and tried Macau's casinos. We played some card games at Casino Lisboa and some slots at Grand Lisboa, but it wasn't really our day. We lost some, but we thought, at the end of the day, what mattered to us is we enjoyed moving around Macau. On to Macau Day 2.
