Ueno Park (上野公園)

Ueno Park in Tokyo, Japan is a public park that also houses some of Tokyo's most famous museums and Japan's oldest zoo, the Ueno Zoo (上野動物園). It is right beside the JR Ueno station (上野駅), but it is also accessible via the Tokyo Metro Ginza (東京メトロ銀座線) and Tokyo Metro Hibiya (東京メトロ日比谷線) subway lines.

There are some temples and shrines in the park, and you may need the whole day to walk around especially if you're getting in the museums and the zoo. Note that only the park is free of admission. Since I don't normally go to museums and I wasn't in the mood to check out some animals at that time, I was satisfied enjoying the park itself.

Two of the museums are close to each other, the National Museum of Nature and Science (国立科学博物館) and the National Museum of Western Art (国立西洋美術館). Admission fees are 600円 and 420円 respectively.

Some of the temples were under renovation at that time, but it still wasn't enough to force me to go to the zoo. The pandas were also not yet there and I heard that they're the main attraction. So I just continued walking around, passed by the the zoo's entrance, shot some more pictures, and headed home.
